FIND THE TEACHER WITHIN

buddhaAs a Yoga teacher, I am not concerned if everyone in the room is doing the same thing as long as they are all safe.   Why? Because my approach as a teacher is to guide the student to the true teacher (guru) that is inside each one of us.  I feel that each of us is best suited to decide what works for us—on and off the yoga mat.  When a student is new, he/she will follow along as I demonstrate the poses and give verbal cues for breathing and mind direction.   However, at some point, the student will start to “tune me out” and to listen to their own inner guide.  They will have traveled down the same path enough times to know the way and to trust in their own directions.  This approach allows the student to customize a practice that will be safe and beneficial for him or her.  After all, guru is spelled…G-U-R-U (or gee, you are you)!

Namaste and Yoga On!
