Teaching Chair Yoga for Seniors

When it comes to Chair Yoga, there is no “one size fits all” class. How the chair is used when teaching will depend on the strength, balance and fitness (mental and physical) of those in the class. In these workshops, you will learn the basics of teaching a 45 minute chair class at three different levels. It will serve as both an introduction to Chair Yoga as well as provide some new ideas and insights to those who are already teaching this style of class.

Level 1 Workshop (All poses seated in a chair)

Sunday, October 12th from 2 to 4 PM

$45.00 (2 CEUs)

Chair Yoga class suitable for using in assisted living settings for frail students with balance issues, using walkers and in wheelchairs. This workshop will also discuss how to work with students with dementia. All workshops will be held at the Affirmations Yoga Studio. Part of the proceeds will be donated to Silver Age Yoga Community Outreach. Each workshop qualifies for 2 CEUs through Yoga Alliance. Certificates for workshop completion available from Silver Age Yoga for an additional $5 donation.

  1. The last in the series, Chair Yoga for Seniors Level 3, “Using the chair to safely introduce more challenging poses to stronger, more active Seniors”, is scheduled for Sunday, December 14, 2014. The series has been well received and many who could not attend have asked that we repeat the series in 2015. We are currently working on the schedule and will post as soon as possible.
